The Benefits Of Apple Cider Vinegar

So as I’ve mentioned in my “about me,” I’m a bit of a health nut, and I’m constantly learning new ways to benefit my body. My latest obsession is something that almost everyone already has in their kitchen; apple cider vinegar (ACV). I start every morning with a quick shot of ACV. Hear me out, I know it sounds disgusting, but the benefits of this powerful shot far outweigh the nasty taste it leaves in your mouth. First things first, I use organic unfiltered ACV. I’ve learned this type works best for me and most sources say this is the best to use. Now let’s talk about the incredible things ACV can do.

For staters, ACV helps kill bacteria and/or keeps the bacteria from multiplying. It’s a probiotic, which is important for gut health and it can decrease the bacteria that causes acne. You can apply ACV to your face to help fight acne. If you do so, I’d recommend cutting the ACV with half water and applying it as a toner with a cotton ball. It can be irritating on your skin, and does leave a strong smell, so I opt out of applying it topically and choose to drink it. Your body will absorb it better if you drink it, making the benefits more effective. I promise, you will begin to see a glow in your complexion once you incorporate this into your diet. ACV has also been linked to decreased blood sugar levels and acts as a fighter against diabetes. It can lower cholesterol levels and reduce your risk of heart disease. For more details on the science behind ACV and how it is capable of accomplishing all of this, do some research. I want to keep this post as short and sweet as possible. It’s not a bad idea to do your own research on a product before you begin using it. What works for me, may not work for you!

Last but not least, my ultimate reason for drinking ACV every morning…It accelerates weight loss. The vinegar helps make you feel full, increases your metabolism and stimulates digestion. I’ve learned to only drink 1-2 tablespoons of ACV every day. Too much of anything can eventually become bad for you right? So keep it to a minimum.

On days that I have a little extra time, I mix my ACV with a few ingredients to improve the taste and make it more enjoyable. I can’t take credit for this though, the Tone It Up girls created the Meta D and Bombshell Spell drinks that make your daily dose of ACV tasty. They use ingredients like cinnamon, which helps reduce hunger, and cayenne, which is a great source of vitamin A, B, and C. It also helps improve digestion, increases your metabolism, and decreases inflammation. Sounds good to me! I’ll post the recipes for each drink below. Thanks for reading!

Meta D

  • 1 tablespoon of ACV
  • 6 oz water
  • 2 oz 100% organic apple juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 small shake of cayenne pepper (to your liking, it can be a bit strong)

Mix all ingredients together in a shaker with a couple ice cubes. Shake, pour into a glass and enjoy.

Bombshell Spell

  • 4 oz 100% all-natural pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon ACV
  • Juice from 1/4 of a lime
  • 1 teaspoon of local honey

Start with the pineapple juice and pour ingredients into a shaker over a couple ice cubes. Make sure to SHAKE the ingredients, not stir. Pour into a glass and enjoy.
